Many of our clients like to craft and sew. Since June 13th is National Sewing Machine Day, we want to celebrate you! The day commemorates the first working model of the machine in 1874 by an Englishman named William Newton Wilson. As you know, sewing is a relaxing activity… but there are plenty of additional benefits too.
We believe it’s important to celebrate the women in our lives. Mother’s Day, on May 9 this year, is a great time to do it! Instead of (or in addition to) flowers this year, try something that benefits your mom or another special woman in your life in different ways.
According to Oscar the Grouch, it isn’t easy being green. Actually, for us humans it’s getting easier and easier to buy products that don’t destroy the earth. It’s the only planet we’ve got! Earth Day is April 22, so it’s a great time to focus on reducing, reusing and recycling.
Are you still going strong on your New Year’s resolutions for 2021? Or did life get in the way? Seriously, we know how it goes. Get back into your resolutions by walking more for National Walking Day on April 7… and the rest of the year too!
We talk a lot on our blog about the importance of hydration for staying healthy and safe, but I’ll be honest with you. Sometimes I find it hard to make sure I’m getting all my water in! I know I need to do it, but other things happen. So even though I have a bunch of water bottles (I live in the desert, after all) I bought myself another one. It’s meant to carry all your water for the day, according to the general recommendations (64 ounces). It has different times of day listed on it as a guide. If it’s 10 am and I haven’t hit that line yet, I know I have some drinking (water) to do!
So many of us don’t get enough sleep. In addition to being a productivity issue, lack of sleep can result in injuries too! Fatigue played a role in the Three Mile Island and Chernobyl nuclear disasters as well as the Exxon Valdez oil spill, in addition to countless others.
During COVID-19, it’s important for people to maintain their sanity and their health, both physical and mental. It can be tough, especially since it’s been months for many of us staying safely at home. One way to relieve stress is to make sure you spend time on a hobby that you enjoy.
Are you keeping your ticker in tune while working from home? It’s sometimes hard to remember the basics when you’re juggling home and work. But your family needs your heart! You already know to lose weight if you’re overweight, move around, get enough sleep, stop smoking. But what else can you do to keep it healthy?
This time of year is when people decide to get healthy… or discover that they’re already falling off the resolution bandwagon! We’re here to help with achievable goals and to boost you back on to the bandwagon if necessary!
Did you, like many of our readers, resolve to exercise more in 2021! January is Walk Your Dog month, so you can get the whole family in on the fun! Keep your heart and the rest of you safe by parading with your pooch.
