Spinning turntables on top of folding tables is life for a lot of our DJ clients. They love to lift up the surface of their tables with our risers so they’re not straining their backs for the whole set. We’ve got some Safety tips to keep DJs healthy and free from pains and strains of all kinds!
S (Slips)
There’s not a whole lot you can do about drunk customers spilling their drinks on the floor. However, you can put a splash guard on the front of your console to help prevent them leaning over your equipment, drink in hand.
A (Amperes)
High decibels mean hearing loss, so plenty of DJs wear earplugs. This might make it harder for you to hear how loud it is in the room you’re playing, so watch your LED meters to gauge the volume.
F (Flashlights and other lights)
Clubs tend to have badly lit rooms and hallways, so make sure you’ve got a light source with you when you need to exit after your set or hang out for the afterparty.
If you work with lasers, make sure you set them high enough so no one will be looking right into them. Otherwise it could cause eye damage.
E (Electric shock)
Getting zapped is a lot less fun than the electric slide, or even the macarena. Check your cables for cuts and wear before you head out to the party.
Got gear rattling inside due to a loose component? Don’t use it.
Another great way to avoid shock is to bring two residual current devices (RCDs) with you. One works for your lighting, and the other for your sound equipment.
T (trips and falls)
Taping down cords and removing any other trip hazards when you can will help you avoid tripping and falling. Stash your stuff under the table or against the wall so it’s not blocking your path.
Y (Your back)
Use your legs when you’re lifting heavy equipment. Otherwise it’s too easy to strain your back now. Not to mention end up with back or other joint problems later on.
No stairs at the venue? Lucky you! Take a small cart to transport your gear and keep your back safe.
Will you be working at a folding table? Bring along a set ofeasy-to-install folding table risers to lift up the surface so you don’t end up with back strain during and after your set.
I set up an area on my back porch for bleaching and dyeing shirts. Unfortunately, the tables I got didn't have adjustable heights. My back was constantly aching from bending over a table for prolonged periods. I ordered these after seeing all the reviews on Amazon. What a lifesaver! They went on so easily and the tables are super sturdy. Perfect height for working without pain!! Would recommend to anyone and everyone!
I ordered the wrong size from Amazon. When I tried to return them, Amazon directed me to the Lift Your Table company. I spoke with Bethany and she helped me figure out what size I need. She did not charge me for the additional expense of the larger size. She only charged me $15 for shipping. She told me that I didn’t need to return the original set but to gift them to someone who could use them. She was very professional and very kind. I highly recommend this “Made in America” company!
The NuChair design makes sense, so I bought one, and my staff love it! It does offload the low back when sitting and maintains tall strong sitting posture while sitting. In 40 years of practice I have never seen a chair that can deliver good ergonomics and postural support. The NuChair is the NuWay to get it done. Bravo.
These are a life-saver. I am going to get them for all of my work tables. No more hunching over! And, I can stand and work if I want to. We know that sitting is really bad for us. This was a VERY worthwhile purchase.
I am a DJ and I get tired of bending over all the time on a normal table. This thing did the trick! It puts everything at a much easier level so I can see it and reach for it so much easier.
Wow! These were the perfect solution to use at our food booth during a big event. Instead of purchasing another stainless steel prep table, we used these to elevate our normal 8′ tables and they were a lifesaver! Or should I say back-saver?
After a month, it’s really hard to complain about much regarding the chair. My shoulders, neck, and lower back all feel the difference, and as a 25 year tattooist, I feel the effects of work on my body. I train, stretch, and eat well, but also have a massive neck injury that has threatened to take me from my career, and it feels like this chair adds some years back!
My only suggestions would be for a more breathable, simple to clean material. Wearing jeans in this chair can get fairly sweaty, but I’m working around that.
Additionally, the other thought I had was to offer a shock height option for those of us that are tall. I suggested it already to the staff, and they provided me full specs on the current shock so I would be able to find a larger one utilizing the same width dimensions.
