Are You Prepared? 4 Tips To Pump Up Your Safety Plan

September is National Preparedness Month. Unfortunately, disasters and emergencies can happen at any time. Having plans ready to go can make a huge difference to you and your family.
The theme for 2021 is “Prepare to protect. Preparing for disasters is protecting everyone you love.”
1. Make a plan
How will you communicate with your family and friends during a disaster? Mobile networks may be down, so cell phones might not work. Don’t rely on them for your plan.
Where will you meet? If everyone needs to get out of the house during a fire, where is a safe place for everyone to gather that will be out of the way of the flames and firemen?
Most people are familiar with the potential natural disasters that occur in their area. If not, make sure you contact the local authorities to find out! For example, southern California is subject to wildfires (click here on how to keep your pets safe in a fire) but not hurricanes. It’s the reverse for the southeastern states.
2. Make a kit
If you need to flee the area, you’ll need to bring some things with you. Have a car emergency kit stashed in your trunk as well.
Gather supplies, including meds, food, and water – for people AND pets. The CDC has recommendations if you’re not sure what you should put in your “go-bag”.
3. Lower your risk
While it’s not always possible to reduce risks to zero, you can mitigate them to the best of your ability. Check to make sure your insurance covers the likely issues in your area.
If there are ways that you can reduce risk to your property, take them. For instance, in fire-prone areas, it’s smart to clear vegetation around your property to avoid fueling a fire.
4. Talk to your kids
If they’re old enough, they can even get involved in the planning process. Disasters and storms can be very scary, especially for younger kids. Make sure they know that these are protective measures.

I set up an area on my back porch for bleaching and dyeing shirts. Unfortunately, the tables I got didn't have adjustable heights. My back was constantly aching from bending over a table for prolonged periods. I ordered these after seeing all the reviews on Amazon. What a lifesaver! I ordered the wrong size from Amazon. When I tried to return them, Amazon directed me to the Lift Your Table company. I spoke with Bethany and she helped me figure out what size I need. She did not charge me for the additional expense of the larger size. She only charged me $15 for shipping. She told me that I didn’t need to return the original set but to gift them to someone who could use them. She was very professional and very kind. I highly recommend this “Made in America” company!
The NuChair design makes sense, so I bought one, and my staff love it! It does offload the low back when sitting and maintains tall strong sitting posture while sitting. In 40 years of practice I have never seen a chair that can deliver good ergonomics and postural support. The NuChair is the NuWay to get it done. Bravo.
These are a life-saver. I am going to get them for all of my work tables. No more hunching over! And, I can stand and work if I want to. We know that sitting is really bad for us. This was a VERY worthwhile purchase.
I am a DJ and I get tired of bending over all the time on a normal table. This thing did the trick! It puts everything at a much easier level so I can see it and reach for it so much easier.
Wow! These were the perfect solution to use at our food booth during a big event. Instead of purchasing another stainless steel prep table, we used these to elevate our normal 8′ tables and they were a lifesaver! Or should I say back-saver?
After a month, it’s really hard to complain about much regarding the chair. My shoulders, neck, and lower back all feel the difference, and as a 25 year tattooist, I feel the effects of work on my body. I train, stretch, and eat well, but also have a massive neck injury that has threatened to take me from my career, and it feels like this chair adds some years back!
My only suggestions would be for a more breathable, simple to clean material. Wearing jeans in this chair can get fairly sweaty, but I’m working around that.
Additionally, the other thought I had was to offer a shock height option for those of us that are tall. I suggested it already to the staff, and they provided me full specs on the current shock so I would be able to find a larger one utilizing the same width dimensions.
